[E-Daily kim mi-kyung Reporter] Heo Jin-soo, Vice Chairman of Paris Baguette and the eldest son of Sangmi-dang Holdings Chairman Young In Hur, and Heo Hee-soo, President of BR Korea and the chairman’s second son, have returned to SAMLIP—a listed subsidiary of the group—as non-registered executives. This comes eight years after their terms as SAMLIP’s in-house directors ended in 2018.

According to the semi-annual report submitted last month by SPC SAMLIP(005610), the company appointed Vice Chairman Heo Jin-soo and President Heo Hee-soo as full-time, non-registered executives effective the 1st of last month. Vice Chairman Heo serves as SAMLIP’s CSO (Chief Strategy Officer), while President Heo serves as CVO (Chief Vision Officer). Both hold non-registered, full-time positions.

Sangmidang Holdings explained, “Vice Chairman Heo Jin-soo and President Heo Hee-soo were appointed effective the 1st of last month to practice responsible management as shareholders of SAMLIP and as shareholders of Sangmidang Holdings, the holding company.”

Vice Chairman Heo, who joined Paris Baguette in 2005 and has been in charge of strategic planning and global business, currently serves as Vice Chairman of Paris Baguette. President Heo Hee-soo joined Paris Baguette in 2007 and built his career in marketing and new business development; he currently serves as President of BR Korea.

Both had previously participated in the management of SAMLIP as registered directors but stepped down from the board after their terms ended in 2018. This time, they are rejoining SAMLIP’s management for the first time in about eight years, not as registered directors but as full-time non-registered executives.

Vice Chairman Heo and President Heo, both third-generation heirs to the family, are also major shareholders of SAMLIP. As of the end of June, Vice Chairman Heo held 1,407,560 shares (16.31%) of SAMLIP, while President Heo held 1,030,680 shares (11.94%). Sammidang Holdings, SAMLIP’s largest shareholder, holds a 40.66% stake.

Meanwhile, Sangmidang Holdings has recently been accelerating a leadership reshuffle centered on the third generation. Following the promotions last November of then-President Heo Jin-soo to Vice Chairman and Vice President Heo Hee-soo to President, the company nominated Vice Chairman Heo as its new CEO in June. Sangmidang Holdings is the group’s holding company, with Chairman Heo holding a 63.31% stake, Vice Chairman Heo holding 20.33%, President Heo holding 12.82%, and Chairman Heo’s wife, Lee Mi-yang, holding 3.54%.
