[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] KTCorporation(030200)has begun preparing its telecommunications network for the fireworks festival to be held in the Yeouido area of Seoul on the 5th by expanding the capacity of nearby cell towers and deploying mobile cell towers. On the day of the event, the company will operate a 24-hour special response system centered on its integrated control center.

KTCorporation inspected communication quality in advance at the event venue—where large crowds are expected—and along major travel routes, and expanded the capacity of base stations around Yeouido Hangang Park and nearby subway stations. It also deployed additional mobile base stations on-site to ensure sufficient communication capacity.

Fireworks festivals are characterized by a surge in data traffic during specific time periods, as large crowds gather in a short time and there is a concentrated effort to share photos and videos of the fireworks display.

Accordingly, KTCorporation will increase the number of on-site and support staff on the day of the event compared to usual and will closely monitor communication quality and traffic conditions at the venue and along major pedestrian routes. The company plans to operate a 24-hour response system to ensure a swift response should any abnormalities occur.

KTCorporation will also support the organizers’ safety management efforts. The company plans to utilize 5G network slicing technology to ensure the stable transmission of CCTV footage across the entire event venue.

5G network slicing is a technology that divides a single 5G network into multiple virtual networks to reliably provide the communication quality required for specific services.
