[E-Daily Starin KIM HYUNSIK Reporter] KBS announced on the 2nd that its new KBS 2TV variety show, "Unemployed Lee Sedol," will premiere next month.

Lee Sedol" is a program conceived to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the historic match between Lee Sedol and the artificial intelligence (AI) AlphaGo. It portrays the "real-life, analog survival story" of Lee Sedol—dubbed "humanity’s representative unemployed person"—who left the Go world after securing a legendary victory against AlphaGo.
In the 2016 “Google DeepMind Challenge Match,” Lee Sedol, representing humanity, played a total of five games against AlphaGo and secured one victory. KBS stated, “Ten years after the match of the century, the program will capture Lee Sedol—who has put down his Go stones—as he plunges headfirst into the real-world workplace, where AI cannot replace him.”
The teaser poster released today shows Lee Sedol riding an old scooter toward an unknown destination and hanging from the exterior of a high-rise building by a single rope while cleaning windows. Prior to this, on the 27th of last month, Lee Sedol was spotted navigating the bleachers at Jamsil Baseball Stadium while carrying a bag of beer, sparking curiosity online. The reason he was sweating it out selling beer at the baseball stadium will be revealed on the show.
“Unemployed Lee Sedol” is a collaboration between producer Lee Myung-seop, known for directing shows such as “Hong Kim Dong Jeon” and “Method Club,” and writer Yoo Ji-hye of the “Since I Was Born, I’ve Traveled the World” (“Taegye Ilju”) series.
