CGV announced on the 3rd, “We are launching a new customer-participation program called ‘COD-7’ (CGV ON DEMAND), which determines whether a film will be screened based on audience votes and actual ticket sales demand.”
“COD-7” is a regular on-demand screening program that selects films through audience voting and confirms screenings once actual ticket sales reach a certain threshold.
Each month, CGV will announce seven candidate films based on a specific theme and select the one that receives the most votes from the audience. Afterward, ticket sales for that film will begin, and if sufficient actual demand is confirmed, the screening will be finalized.
The first “COD Seven” event will be held under the theme “That Movie I’ve Been Wanting to See.” The nominees were selected primarily from films released between January and July of this year that received high audience satisfaction ratings.
The nominees for the September screening are “Shirat,” “Sentimental Value,” “Hamnet,” “The Sheep in the Box,” “Marty Supreme,” “What Should I Have Done?,” and “Nirvana the Band: Matt and Jay, the duo from ‘Nirvana the Band’—which has little to do with the legendary band Nirvana. One day, they devise a wild plan to build a time machine for a performance and travel back to 17 years ago, when they first met...” and a total of seven films.
Voting will be open through the 7th via the CGV mobile app and website. The film with the most votes will be announced on the afternoon of the 7th, after which ticket sales for “COD Seven” will begin.
Ticket sales for the 7:00 p.m. show on the 15th will open at 10 theaters nationwide—including CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall, Yeongdeungpo Times Square, Wangsimni, Incheon, Ori, Gwangju Sangmu, Daejeon, Daegu, Seomyeon, and Ulsan Samsan—and the final screening will be determined based on whether each theater reaches its target attendance. Reservations for screenings that are not confirmed will be automatically canceled. Tickets cost 10,000 won.
Jang Ji-yeon, Head of the CGV Content Operations Team, explained, “Starting in September, we’re launching ‘COD Seven,’ a new customer-participation program where audiences can directly choose the movies they want to see, and screenings are confirmed based on actual demand.”
She added, “Through a variety of themes and films each month, we will broadly reflect audience preferences and demand, and expand opportunities for viewers to enjoy quality films in theaters.”
