SHOWBITE announced on the 3rd, “We will be releasing five short-form dramas sequentially starting in September, with plans to release approximately 20 titles by the second half of this year.”
“Taste of You” will premiere on the 11th via the global short-form drama platforms “Shortime” and “Vigloo.” This series follows “Victor,” the second son of a global food conglomerate, and his rival “Maika,” who possesses an absolute palate, as they team up to compete in a cooking contest. The story depicts how, the more fiercely they clash, the more fatally they fall for one another.
The action thriller “The Reaper: Asura’s Return,” which depicts the harrowing revenge of “Asura,” a former secret agent who must confront a massive power after his younger sister goes missing, will also be released. The cast includes actor Lee Sang-yeop, Yook Jun-seo from “Solo Hell 4,” and Hyun-jun, formerly of the idol group The Boyz. The historical drama “Joseon Seolhwa Pim,” which depicts power struggles, betrayal, and fatal temptation surrounding a secret gathering of the Joseon Dynasty’s upper class, stars actors Lee Tae-sung, Ryu Hyo-young, Ko Yoon, and Jung Ju-yeon.
“I Quit My Job, and Now a Top Star Is Obsessed With Me,” an unpredictable romance between “No-eul” (Lee Soo-min), a manager who has decided to quit, and “Hee-sung” (Lee Yu-jin), a top star trying to keep her from leaving, and the romantic comedy “Love in Thailand,” filmed entirely on location in Thailand, which follows “Jun-seo” (Jin Ju-hyung) as he falls unexpectedly in love with “So-jin” (Kim Seung-hee), the heiress to a golf resort, after approaching her while hiding his true identity—these and other works spanning diverse genres and themes are set to reach audiences worldwide.
Showbox’s first label, Showbyte, plans to participate in the “International Broadcasting and Video Market (BCWW)” in September and the “Asia Content & Film Market (ACFM)” in October to meet with domestic and international partners and actively expand its distribution platforms.
Meanwhile, Showbox is a film production and distribution company that has produced hits such as *The Man Who Lives with the King*, *The Host*, *The Thieves*, *Assassination*, *A Taxi Driver*, and *Exhumation*, which collectively drew 16.92 million viewers.
