[Edaily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] SamsungElectronics and SK hynix maintained their first and second places, respectively, in the global NAND flash market in the second quarter of this year, based on revenue. As NAND flash prices surged, total market revenue expanded by 70% compared to the previous quarter. China’s Yangtze Memory Technology (YMTC) increased its market share and tied for fourth place with Japan’s Kioxia.
According to Counterpoint Research on the 4th, global NAND flash market revenue in the second quarter increased by 70% compared to the previous quarter. This was driven by the average NAND price rising 55% in the second quarter alone compared to the previous quarter. Following a 90% increase in market revenue in the first quarter—also driven by rising NAND prices—the market has now experienced rapid growth for two consecutive quarters. By company, SamsungElectronics maintained its lead with a 28% market share based on revenue. However, this represented a 1 percentage point decline from the 29% recorded in the first quarter. SK hynix took second place with a 19% share, increasing its market share by 1 percentage point compared to the previous quarter.
Micron’s strong performance was also notable. By prioritizing a sales strategy focused on high-value-added products, it expanded its market share from 13% in the first quarter to 15%, climbing to third place.
Kioxia and China’s Yangtze Memory Technology (YMTC) each recorded a 14% market share. In particular, YMTC posted revenue that exceeded market expectations, tying with Kioxia for fourth place. SanDisk ranked fifth with an 11% market share, down 2 percentage points from the previous quarter.
