Recent reports on online communities and other platforms have highlighted changes at Lee Dong-gun’s café, “Oasis 80,” which was located in Aewol, Jeju. It is reported that a store for another fashion brand has now taken over the building where the café used to operate.
“Oasis 80” was a space where Lee Dong-gun turned a long-cherished dream into reality. Last April, he renovated an old house in Aewol, Jeju, to open the café, and shared everything from the preparation process to the actual operations on the SBS show “My Lazy Little Baby.” At the time, he revealed that running a small café in Jeju had been his long-standing dream.
Changes to the café’s operations began this year. After going on a temporary hiatus starting last June, normal operations did not resume, and in July, the café announced via its official social media that it was undergoing renovations. While expressing gratitude to customers, the café did not specify a reopening date.
Since then, a new business has taken over the space, drawing attention to whether the Jeju café will continue to operate.
However, it is difficult to conclude at this point that the business has closed permanently. “Oasis 80” has not officially announced the end of operations, nor has it issued a separate statement regarding whether it will relocate to another location or when it might reopen.
In particular, given that Lee Dong-gun previously mentioned in a live broadcast that he was preparing to open a location in Seoul, there remains a possibility that he will wind down operations in Jeju and continue the café in a new format. Specific plans have not yet been disclosed.
Lee Dong-gun is currently appearing on the JTBC show “Divorce Cooling-Off Camp.” He married actress Jo Yoon-hee in 2017 and had a daughter with her; the couple divorced by mutual agreement in 2020.
