Considering current ticket sales and the strong box office performance over the weekend, the film is expected to reach the 10-million milestone as early as the 6th.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 6th, “The Odyssey” drew 301,247 viewers the previous day, bringing its cumulative total to 9,768,259. This leaves it just 231,741 viewers short of the 10-million mark.
Ticket sales are also booming. As of 8:30 a.m. today, advance ticket sales for *The Odyssey* reached 291,161 tickets. A simple addition of the cumulative audience count and current advance sales figures already exceeds 10 million. While factors such as ticket cancellations and the spread of viewing dates must be taken into account, analysts say that, based on the current trend, surpassing the 10-million mark is effectively just a matter of time.
If *Odyssey* surpasses 10 million viewers, it will become the second film this year to reach that milestone, following *The Man Who Lives with the King* last March. It would also be the first foreign film to do so this year. Previously, *The Man Who Lives with the King* opened on February 4 and surpassed 10 million viewers on March 6, just 31 days after its release. If *The Odyssey* reaches 10 million on the 6th, it will do so on its 33rd day in theaters—two days later than *The Man Who Lives with the King*.
However, its staying power at the box office is impressive. Even in its fifth week of release, *The Odyssey* secured the most screens among films released during the same period, with 6,210 daily screenings across 1,858 screens nationwide. Unlike the typical trend where the number of screenings decreases over time after a film’s release, the number of screens actually expanded as audience demand continued.
“The Odyssey” has already surpassed “Spider-Man: A Brand New Day” to become this year’s top-grossing foreign film. It surpassed 9 million viewers on its 27th day in theaters and has continued its box office momentum, particularly on large screens, while breaking the all-time record for cumulative domestic IMAX viewership.
At the current pace, the film is projected to surpass 10 million viewers as early as the 6th or, at the latest, by the early morning of the 7th. With another 10-million-viewer film emerging just six months after *The Man Who Lives with the King*, all eyes are on whether this trend of back-to-back blockbusters will continue to revitalize the previously sluggish theater industry.
