On the 6th, Kim Dae-beom posted on his social media, saying, “There are still people leaving comments saying I drove under the influence—how many times do I have to clarify this?” He added, “I have never driven under the influence.”
Kim Dae-beom’s entanglement in the drunk driving rumors dates back to 2024. He explained that reports emerged at the time alleging that a comedian identified only as “Mr. K,” born in 1979, had driven under the influence, and Kim Dae-beom—who shares the same birth year—was mistakenly identified as the person in question. He said he subsequently suffered from malicious comments related to the incident.
Kim Dae-beom revealed that even after Kwon Seong-ho—who was later identified as the actual drunk driver—appeared on his channel to apologize, the misunderstanding refused to go away. “No one paid any attention to the clarification video,” he said, emphasizing, “Let me say it again: I did not drive under the influence. I will never do so in the future either.”
In response to the persistent rumors, Kim Dae-beom even dug up a past statement he had made to clear his name. At the time, he had drawn a clear line, denying not only the drunk driving allegations but also rumors about a divorce, failure to complete military service, and the theft of a foreign-made car. Kim Dae-beom had personally addressed the rumors surrounding him, stating, “I’ve never been married, and my military enlistment date was April 1999.”
Kim Dae-beom debuted in 2004 as a comedian in KBS’s 19th open recruitment class and appeared in various segments on “Gag Concert.”
In August 2024, he appeared on MBN’s “Exclusive World” and opened up about how severe atopic dermatitis had made it difficult for him to continue his career. At the time, he confessed, “My atopic dermatitis was extremely severe. It had completely covered my face,” adding, “Because my face looked like that, I felt a deep sense of self-loathing and developed social anxiety. I didn’t want to do anything.”
