[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] #S&K POLYTEC CO., LTD. announced on the 7th that it has passed the performance evaluation (qualification test) conducted by the world’s largest Chinese-owned global battery company for its polyurethane (PU) foam products used in electric vehicle batteries, and will expand its penetration of the Chinese battery market.
Following the successful qualification test, S&K POLYTEC CO., LTD. is currently reviewing the practical application of its products and is also engaged in joint product development with Chinese EV manufacturers.
The company that conducted this qualification test is a Chinese firm that has expanded its business into electric vehicle batteries, energy storage systems (ESS), and next-generation battery technologies. S&K POLYTEC CO., LTD. is currently reviewing the practical application of the products that passed this quality verification.
S&K POLYTEC CO., LTD. is also jointly developing PU foam products for batteries with a Chinese electric vehicle company. The company plans to expand its penetration of the Chinese battery market by leveraging its manufacturing technology for high-density, fine-cell-structured polyurethane foam and its product development capabilities to meet customer-specific material property requirements.
The company has also established a local production and customer support infrastructure in China. S&K POLYTEC CO., LTD. operates a manufacturing plant in Gongshan, Jiangsu Province, and maintains a local office in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Leveraging this production and customer support infrastructure in China, the company is able to respond swiftly to local battery and electric vehicle manufacturers—from product development and application consultations to mass production.
PU foam for electric vehicle batteries is a material applied between battery cells to absorb vibrations and shocks generated during driving and to maintain proper spacing between cells. It can be engineered to provide flame-retardant properties according to customer requirements, thereby enhancing battery stability and durability.
S&K POLYTEC CO., LTD. is expanding the manufacturing technology it has accumulated through supplying high-density PU foam for electronic devices—such as smartphones and displays—into the electric vehicle battery and automotive electronics components sectors. The company plans to cultivate PU foam for batteries as a new growth engine by leveraging its local production base in China and its capabilities for customer-tailored development.
An S&K POLYTEC CO., LTD. official stated, “As we have been actively pursuing the development of PU foam products for electric vehicle batteries, we are seeing tangible results, such as passing internal quality verification at the world’s largest Chinese battery manufacturer and engaging in joint development with Chinese electric vehicle companies.” The official added, “We will leverage our local production and customer support infrastructure in China to cultivate the battery market as a new growth pillar.”
