Channel A’s new Tuesday drama “Kidnap Game,” set to premiere on October 6, is a thriller that depicts an unprecedented series of kidnappings occurring simultaneously across seven Asian cities: Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, and Naha. The series stars Kentaro Sakaguchi and Lee Joon-gi and was produced as a joint production between South Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong.
Kentaro Sakaguchi plays “Toshiro Niide,” a Japanese detective who relentlessly pursues the truth behind the case. Though he possesses a strong sense of justice and cool-headed judgment, he throws himself into the midst of a massive game to save his beloved wife, and his convictions gradually begin to waver. Lee Joon-gi plays “Han Ki-ju,” a genius surgeon who is forced to make unimaginable choices after his visually impaired daughter is kidnapped. Once a doctor dedicated to saving lives, he faces extreme dilemmas to protect his family and is plunged into deep anguish.
The three posters released ahead of the broadcast succinctly capture the fates of these two central characters. The unwavering gazes of Niide Toshiro and Han Ki-ju, who are looking in different directions, perfectly convey the intense tension as they each move toward the truth in their own way. Above all, the tagline—“How far would you go to save someone you love? Only one can survive”—immediately reveals the most fundamental question posed by this series. It also foreshadows an unpredictable dynamic between the two characters, who have both plunged into the same incident to save their loved ones: will they join forces, or will they end up turning against each other?
