[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] “Performance is fundamental for humanoid actuators. SAMHYOON CO.,LTD aims to mass-produce products with the same performance by combining this with the automation technology we’ve accumulated through the mass production of automotive parts.”

Park Ki-won, CEO of SAMHYUN CO.,LTD(437730), cited automation-based mass production capabilities as a key competitive advantage in the humanoid joint actuator business during an interview with Edaily on the 7th. Humanoid actuators are core components that function as human muscles and joints, translating artificial intelligence (AI) commands into actual movements.

SAMHYOON CO.,LTD, a global motion control specialist, is targeting the humanoid actuator market based on automotive component production technologies accumulated since 1988—including integrated design and packaging of motors, gearboxes, and controllers; precision machining; and noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) as well as durability and quality management technologies.

“AXLON,” the brand of humanoid joint actuators developed by SAMHYOON CO.,LTD, is an all-in-one product that integrates a motor, gear reducer, controller, and sensors. The lineup consists of 12 models, including the I, O, and L series, and the company highlights high torque density, low noise, precise control, high efficiency, and high durability as its key competitive advantages. The lineup includes 10 models in the I Series and the O Series, which utilizes the QDD (Quasi Direct Drive) method. QDD is a system that directly connects the motor and reducer, enabling high reverse drive capability and precise torque control.

SAMHYOON CO.,LTD is focusing on reducing “variation”—the performance discrepancy between individual actuator units. The company explains that since actuators consist of multiple components and undergo 40 to 60 manufacturing processes, production technology capable of consistently delivering identical performance is crucial.

CEO Park emphasized, “The intrinsic value of an actuator lies in its performance, and reducing performance variation is the most critical factor in accelerating our humanoid business.” SAMHYOON CO.,LTD is mechanizing manual processes and establishing automation lines based on programmable logic controllers (PLCs), as well as high-speed, precision machining equipment.

Along with establishing a mass-production infrastructure, the company is also working to secure clients. SAMHYOON CO.,LTD is currently collaborating on humanoid actuator projects with approximately 23 companies both domestically and internationally. Some global clients have entered the “Spec-in” phase, where SAMHYOON CO.,LTD’s products are incorporated into customer specifications for sample supply and performance and durability verification. The goal is to transition to the “Award” phase, in which the company is selected as the final supplier. Some projects have progressed to the supply of mass-production prototypes and verification of mass-producibility, and major domestic corporations are also included in the company’s robotics business pipeline.

CEO Park views this year as a transitional period for adjusting the robotics business portfolio and establishing a mass production foundation. The plan is to move from the development stage to mass production starting next year and to generate substantial revenue growth beginning in 2028. Initial revenue is currently being generated through the supply of prototypes to some customers, with the earliest customer planning to begin mass production in the first quarter of next year. The company expects revenue from its robotics business to expand from approximately 800 million won in the first half of this year to about 4 billion won in the second half.

Currently, the majority of SAMHYOON CO.,LTD’s revenue comes from its automotive business. The automotive business accounts for approximately 85% of SAMHYOON CO.,LTD’s revenue, while defense makes up 10–15% and robotics less than 5%. SAMHYOON CO.,LTD aims to continue the gradual growth of its automotive business while expanding new businesses such as defense and robotics, with the goal of achieving a 50-50 revenue split between automotive and new businesses by 2030.

The company also plans to cultivate the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) business as a medium- to long-term growth engine. SAMHYOON CO.,LTD is currently collaborating with major domestic conglomerates on AAM-related projects and has been engaged in development for about two years.

The company will also continue investing to expand its new business ventures. SAMHYOON CO.,LTD plans to invest approximately 100 billion won by 2029 to construct its second and third factories, as well as defense production facilities. For humanoid actuators, the company intends to first secure a production capacity of 500,000 units and then gradually expand capacity in line with customer demand.

The company is also considering production in the U.S. to address the global market. The plan is to respond to local production requests from North American customers, but to determine the scale and direction of investment only after securing actual order volumes. A dedicated task force (TF) is currently evaluating potential sites in the region.

SAMHYOON CO.,LTD is prioritizing the enhancement of its corporate value through investments in new businesses and business expansion. The company plans to maintain its policy of a 50 won per share cash dividend annually while expanding its business scale through research and development, the establishment of production infrastructure, investments in new businesses, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Decisions regarding further dividend increases will be made based on future performance, and the company also plans to file a “value-up” disclosure by the end of this year.
