[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] #Curiosis Inc., a company specializing in lab automation, announced on the 8th that its founder and CEO, Ho-young Yoon, received the Presidential Commendation at the “1st Technology Developers’ Day” government awards ceremony.

“Technology Developers’ Day” is a commemorative day established to honor private-sector research and development (R&D) personnel who have contributed to enhancing the nation’s technological competitiveness through research, development, and technological innovation. Designated annually on September 7 to commemorate September 7, 2004—the date when the number of corporate-affiliated research institutes in Korea exceeded 10,000—this year marked the first awards ceremony held since the day was designated as a national commemorative day.

CEO Yoon was recognized for founding a materials, parts, and equipment (MPE) company in the field of bio-automation, internalizing core technologies in the sector, and contributing to the localization of equipment.

After founding Curiosis Inc. in 2015, CEO Yoon established “CurioSystem™,” a proprietary manufacturing platform that integrates core lab automation technologies such as optics, mechanics, electronics, and software.

Building on this foundation, the company commercialized automation products for the synthetic biology and medical diagnostics sectors, including the live-cell imaging system “Celloger®,” the cell separation and concentration system “Cellpuri®,” the automated colony picking system “CPX®,” and the digital pathology system “MSP®.”

The company has obtained one New Technology (NET) certification and three New Product (NEP) certifications. Following last year’s award for Celloger®, it received the “IR52 Jang Young-sil Award” for CPX® in August of this year, and has also won three U.S. “R&D 100 Awards” and two “CES Innovation Awards.”

The company is also expanding its overseas operations. It has signed original design manufacturing (ODM) supply contracts with global life sciences companies, and its proprietary brand, Cellogger, is distributed through a network of distributors in 37 countries. In South Korea, it supplies CPX to K-BioFoundry-related institutions, such as the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology.
