[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] S-Polytech ( S POLYTECH CO.,LTD.(050760)), a company specializing in engineering plastics, received the Presidential Commendation on “Technology Developers’ Day” for its contributions to the localization of key materials and the development of high-tech industries.

S POLYTECH CO.,LTD. was recognized for developing and localizing specialty plastic materials—which had previously relied heavily on imports—using its own technology, and for commercializing them into actual products.
Its flagship product is an ultra-thin, highly weather-resistant polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) film with a thickness of 55 μm. The company has independently developed and mass-produced this product domestically and supplies it as a premium finishing material to major domestic building materials and interior design firms.
The company also developed polycarbonate (PC) film for national security documents using its proprietary technology. This product, used in resident registration cards, passports, and driver’s licenses, has been supplied for over 10 years to domestic and international minting agencies—including the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation—as well as global companies specializing in security documents.
In the aerospace materials sector, the company has developed flame-retardant PC materials for aircraft that have passed the FAR 25.853 flame-retardant test—a standard set by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)—and has been supplying them to U.S. aerospace parts manufacturers for over 14 years. Recently, the company has expanded the application scope from aircraft window materials to in-flight interior materials.
These technological achievements are also driving export growth. According to the company, exports to the U.S. in the first half of this year increased by 78.9% compared to the same period last year. The company is also increasing its supply of high-value-added products, such as PC matte films for security documents, primarily to the U.S. and European markets.
S POLYTECH CO.,LTD. plans to continue expanding its product portfolio with a focus on high-value-added specialty materials and to strengthen the technological competitiveness and commercialization capabilities of its core materials.
S POLYTECH CO.,LTD. official stated, “This Presidential Commendation is highly significant as it represents national recognition of our achievements in localizing core materials through in-house R&D and commercializing them into actual products.” The official added, “We will continue to pursue technological innovation and commercialization centered on high-value-added specialty materials to strengthen the stable supply base for domestic high-tech industries and enhance our competitiveness in the global market.”
