[E-Daily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] On the 8th, ARIS, an independent research firm, announced that META BIOMED.CO.,LTD(059210), a company specializing in biodegradable polymer materials, is drawing attention for its expansion of high-value-added product lines and new business ventures based on biopolymer technology.

ARIS assessed META BIOMED.CO.,LTD’s vertical integration—from the synthesis of biopolymers, which serve as raw materials for suture threads, to the spinning of the threads—as a core competitive advantage. The analysis indicates that the company’s accumulated polymer material technology is serving as the foundation for new business ventures such as fillers and sports medicine.

The proportion of high-value-added products is also expanding in existing businesses. In the dental sector, “CeraSeal,” a bioceramic sealer used in the restoration process following root canal treatment, recorded sales of 12.5 billion won last year as a single product, according to META BIOMED.CO.,LTD. In the suture sector, the company supplies semi-finished biodegradable suture thread—which degrades within the body—to global manufacturers of finished products.

Profitability metrics are also showing an upward trend. On a consolidated basis, the operating profit margin rose for three consecutive quarters, from 11.2% in the fourth quarter of last year to 19.9% in the first quarter of this year and 23.2% in the second quarter. In the second quarter of this year, revenue reached 26.9 billion won and operating profit amounted to 6.2 billion won, representing increases of 10.5% and 29.2%, respectively, compared to the previous quarter. META BIOMED.CO.,LTD cited the expansion of sales of high-value-added and new products, as well as improved production efficiency, as key factors behind this improvement.

Sports medicine and dermal fillers are emerging as new growth drivers. META BIOMED.CO.,LTD launched “Anchor,” a soft tissue fixation device used to stabilize torn ligaments and muscles, as a new product. The company is expanding its orthopedic lineup by simultaneously developing both biodegradable and non-biodegradable products. In the filler business, the company is pursuing a new venture in biodegradable polymer fillers based on biocompatible synthetic polymers such as PLA and PDO.

The company has also expanded its shareholder returns. It raised the year-end dividend from 30 won per share in 2024 to 105 won in 2025 and, after adding an interim dividend provision to its articles of incorporation, paid an interim dividend of 55 won per share last June. In March, the company retired 922,856 shares of treasury stock, and plans to retire a portion of the 770,000 shares acquired this year by the end of the year after distributing them as performance-based stock compensation to employees.

A MetaBiomed official stated, “The core technologies and stable cash flow we have accumulated in the dental and suture segments are serving as the foundation for investment in new businesses,” adding, “We will continue to shift our business structure toward high-value-added product lines while maintaining shareholder returns, thereby simultaneously boosting both earnings and corporate value.”

Meanwhile, META BIOMED.CO.,LTD participated in “CPHI Korea 2026” last month, showcasing biopolymer raw materials such as PGLA, PLLA, and PDLLA, as well as skin boosters.
