[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] A woman in her 40s accused of persistently stalking actor Hwang Jung-min was sentenced to a fine of 6 million won in the first trial.

On the 8th, the 4th Criminal Division of the Goyang Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court (Judge Kim Young-ah) sentenced Ms. A, a woman in her 40s indicted on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes, to a fine of 6 million won. The court also ordered her to complete a 40-hour stalking treatment program.
The court ruled that, considering the content, number, and frequency of the messages sent by Ms. A, they were sufficient to cause Hwang Jung-min anxiety or fear. The court also found that Ms. A was aware that Hwang Jung-min did not wish to be contacted.
Ms. A argued that because there were time intervals between the messages, her actions did not constitute stalking; however, the court ruled that, considering the overall number and content of the messages, the behavior demonstrated persistence and repetition.
Attention is now focused on whether Mr. A will appeal this ruling.
Hwang Jung-min’s agency, Sam Company, stated, “This ruling confirms that the defendant’s actions constituted a clear case of stalking that seriously infringed upon Hwang Jung-min’s daily life,” adding, “We deeply respect the judiciary’s decision.”
The agency further emphasized, “We plan to continue taking legal action against the dissemination of false information and the release and distribution of maliciously edited recordings that occurred during the trial,” adding, “We will hold the perpetrator accountable without leniency should any further illegal acts occur.”
