[Edaily Reporter Yun Junghoon ] Naver (NAVER(035420)) is establishing a dedicated organization to expand its digital healthcare business. Following its acquisition of Senacl, a cloud-based electronic medical record (EMR) company, and a series of investments in healthcare firms such as InBody Co., Ltd., Naver appears to be accelerating the commercialization of its related businesses and technologies by consolidating them under one umbrella.

According to industry sources on the 8th, Naver plans to establish a new healthcare organization under its Tech Business Division on October 1. Senacl’s co-CEOs, Wi Ui-seok and Park Chan-hee, will jointly lead the organization as executive-level heads. The organization’s name and specific job titles have not yet been determined.
Through this organizational restructuring, Naver aims to grow its healthcare business by combining Senacl’s expertise in the medical field with its own service capabilities in AI, search, and reservations. Following the acquisition of Senacl as an affiliate, this move effectively establishes an operational unit within the headquarters to integrate the two companies’ businesses and technologies.
Senacl is a company that operates “OrumChart,” a cloud-based EMR system designed for small clinics. It supports the full range of clinic operations, from appointments and patient registration to medical billing, prescriptions, and patient management. Naver Cloud secured the position of largest shareholder in Senacl after making an additional investment last November.
Naver has been consistently investing in the healthcare sector. It acquired a stake in InBody Co., Ltd., a body composition analysis company, and also invested in J&P Medi, a digital clinical trial platform provider. In doing so, it has expanded its healthcare business footprint from EMR—a core system in medical settings—to personal health data and clinical trial platforms.
It is also consolidating related research and development capabilities at its headquarters. In March, the “Applied AI” group—which had been responsible for developing AI models specialized for healthcare—was transferred from Naver Cloud to the Tech Business Division. Once the new organization is launched, it is expected to be able to advance medical AI technology, Senacl’s EMR business, and collaboration with existing portfolio companies under a single umbrella.
The integration with “Health Agent AI,” set to be unveiled in the second half of the year, is also drawing attention. Naver envisions a system where AI analyzes health screening results to provide personalized health management information and, in the future, connects users from health information search to hospital recommendations, appointments, and visits.
Lee Hae-jin, Chairman of Naver’s Board of Directors, has also cited medical AI as a next-generation growth area. Last year, Chairman Lee stated, “Naver is serious about investing in medical AI,” revealing that the company is seeking new growth opportunities in the medical field in the age of AI.
An industry insider commented, “I view this as a sign that Naver is integrating the capabilities it has individually secured—including EMR, AI, health data, and clinical platforms—into a single healthcare business.”
