[Edaily Starin, Reporter Gim Ga Yeong ] Actors Jeon Do-yeon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Sun-young, Kim Geum-soon, Kim Guk-hee, Woo Jeong-won, Gong Seong-ha, and Baek Hyun-jin have been cast in “The Great Bang Ok-sook.”
On the 10th, the production team of tvN’s new drama *The Great Bang Ok-sook* announced that Jeon Do-yeon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Sun-young, Kim Geum-soon, Kim Kuk-hee, Woo Jeong-won, Gong Seong-ha, and Baek Hyun-jin will star in the series. “The Great Bang Ok-sook” is a drama depicting a battle for survival between a “thug-like” women’s association—serious about keeping housing prices low—and a “real thug” housing association chairman—serious about redevelopment.
Director Kim Hyung-sik, known for dramas such as “Shuroop,” “Surgeon Bong Dal-hee,” and “Ghost,” is teaming up with screenwriter Lee Ki-cheol, who wrote the films “Mogadishu,” “Assassination,” and “The Thieves.”
Jeon Do-yeon takes on the role of Bang Ok-sook, the powerful figurehead of the Noble Gold Castle Women’s Association and the mastermind behind the operation to derail the redevelopment project. Bang Ok-sook is a woman who will stop at nothing to protect the value of her Han River-view apartment, which she acquired only after great hardship. When property values in her neighborhood begin to fluctuate due to redevelopment plans in a neighboring area, she steps up to defend her home. She is set to wage a fierce battle as Bang Ok-sook, a character who will stop at nothing to protect her home and family.
Previously, Jeon Do-yeon achieved great success with tvN’s *One Hit Scandal*, which recorded a peak viewership rating of 17%. Attention is now focused on what kind of performance Jeon Do-yeon—returning to tvN for the first time in four years—will deliver.
Park Hae-soo takes on the role of Yoon Tae-woong, the head of the redevelopment association who will engage in an all-out battle with Bang Ok-sook (played by Jeon Do-yeon). Yoon Tae-woong, a “gentle gangster” surrounded by all sorts of rumors, is the figure who instantly brings the redevelopment project—which had been stalled for 10 years—to fruition, plunging the Noble Gold Castle Women’s Association into crisis and tension.
Kim Sun-young, Kim Geum-soon, Kim Guk-hee, Woo Jeong-won, and Gong Seong-ha are set to join Jeon Do-yeon as members of the Noble Gold Castle Women’s Association. Kim Sun-young plays Lee Ho-young, a character brimming with pretension who has a daughter ranked first in her school and a husband who is a social affairs reporter, forming a subtle rivalry with Bang Ok-sook.
Kim Geum-soon plays Yoon Ji-ae, the president of the Women’s Association who spearheaded the rise in property values at Noble Gold Castle, firmly holding the group together. The character Oh Ji-hee, played by Kim Guk-hee, is a self-proclaimed investment guru (?)—or rather, a “black thumb”—who trusts neither her husband nor her friends, relying solely on her own instincts, and brings unpredictability to the Women’s Association’s future.
Woo Jeong-won showcases an unexpected charm as Do Do-hee, a character who appears indifferent but harbors a deep affection for the women’s association. Gong Seong-ha, playing social media influencer Kim Ye-ri, also injects a burst of lively energy among the Women’s Association members. Finally, Baek Hyun-jin, as Lee Ho-young’s husband Koo Myeong-hwan, will team up with Kim Seon-young (who plays Lee Ho-young) in a madcap marital dynamic and lend his support to the Noble Gold Castle Women’s Association’s mission to derail the redevelopment project.
“The Great Bang Ok-sook” portrays the reality of an era where apartment prices have become a measure of status, as well as the frenzied battle between those trying to protect their homes and those seeking to profit from them, aiming to highlight the various meanings of “home” beyond mere living space.
“The Great Bang Ok-soon” is scheduled to premiere in the first half of next year.
Meanwhile, Jeon Do-yeon is set to release the Netflix film “Possible Love.” “Possible Love” will be released on the 23rd.
