According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 16th, “The Martian” took the No. 1 spot at the box office after drawing 45,838 viewers the previous day. Its cumulative attendance stands at 10,880,175, leaving it about 120,000 short of the 11 million mark.
In second place was “Obsession,” which drew 24,258 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 524,757. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” took third place with 7,914 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 8,946,740. Fourth place went to “The Drama” (5,625 viewers), while fifth place was taken by “Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub,” starring Byun Yo-han and Noh Jae-won, which is set to open on the 23rd.
“The Odyssey” also continued its lead in advance ticket sales. As of 7:20 a.m. that day, “The Odyssey” ranked first with 123,332 tickets sold.
Second place went to “The Assassin(s),” starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho, which opens on the 23rd, with 87,301 tickets sold. “The Intern,” which opened today, ranked third with 83,993 tickets sold. “Tazza” followed in fourth place with 51,540 tickets sold.
While *Odyssey* continues to hold the top spot at the box office, a string of Korean films will be released during the Chuseok holiday. With a variety of films across different genres—starting with *The Intern* and followed by *The Assassin(s)*, *Tazza*, and *The Resurrected Man: The Red*—set to hit theaters, all eyes are on how the release of these new titles will impact *The Odyssey*’s dominance and the overall ticket sales landscape.
