[E-Daily Shin Ha-yeon Reporter] As concerns grow over the overseas leakage of national core technologies, Vision AI-based information security company CUBOX Co., Ltd(340810)is drawing investor interest. This stems from expectations that demand will expand for solutions designed to prevent technology leaks via “screen capture”—a method that is difficult to block with existing information technology (IT) security systems—particularly in high-tech industries such as the semiconductor sector.
According to MP Doctor on the 16th, SECERN AI’s closing price on the 15th was 4,205 won, marking a 16.2% increase over the past month since the 18th of last month (3,620 won). This figure far exceeds the KOSDAQ’s return, which fell by 2.6% over the same period. [This image was created using AI technology.] SECERN AI recently announced that it has signed supply contracts for its AI-based screen information protection solution, “SEEU ON,” with two companies, including a global semiconductor equipment manufacturer. The contracting parties are Company K and Company T; however, the company names and contract amounts were not disclosed following mutual agreement between the two firms. The contract size is understood to be below the threshold requiring public disclosure.
SEEU ON is an information security solution that recognizes users’ faces in real time to continuously verify whether they are authorized users. It detects and blocks the screen not only when a user steps away or another person approaches but also when someone attempts to photograph the monitor screen with a cell phone or digital camera. This technology addresses visual and physical data leakage pathways that were difficult to prevent with existing network security or digital rights management (DRM) measures.
On the 11th, the company was awarded a contract for the “Defense Network AI Coding Assistant and Security Code Automatic Inspection Agent” project, organized by the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP). With a total project budget of 2.45 billion won, the plan is to supply the Ministry of National Defense with the closed-loop AI coding assistant solution “Intrazen X,” conduct a pilot test with the Air Force, and then expand its application to the Army, Navy, and other national agencies.
The market is paying close attention to the potential for such information security demand to grow as competition among nations over cutting-edge industries intensifies. According to the National Investigation Bureau of the National Police Agency, the number of cases involving the leakage of technology overseas reached a record high of 33 last year. Of these, eight cases involved national core technologies.
From 2020 through June of last year, a total of 110 cases of domestic industrial technology leaks overseas were detected, with the estimated damage to the industry amounting to approximately 23 trillion won. Of the total leak incidents, 33 were found to be related to national core technologies.
In particular, recent technology leaks have occurred not only through network intrusions or file transfers but also by internal employees directly photographing production screens or design drawings with their cell phones. It has been pointed out that even as companies strengthen network access controls and document encryption, the screens themselves—which are visible to the naked eye—have been relatively difficult to manage.
The industry is also stepping up its response by combining physical and digital security measures. The Institute for Design Education and Research (IDEC) at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), supported by SamsungElectronics, operates a system to protect design assets by requiring access to research assets through dedicated cloud servers equipped with security software and installing security cameras inside laboratories.
In the information security industry, solutions such as SECERN AI’s “CUON,” Terten’s “CamCube,” and Espresso’s “MonitorDog” are cited as ways to prevent information leaks caused by screen captures. An industry official stated, “If companies possessing core national technologies—such as semiconductors, displays, and rechargeable batteries—expand the scope of their security investments, new business opportunities could open up for related companies as well.”
