Actor Shin Seung-ho spoke about his character during a press conference held on the 16th at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
“The Resurrected Man: The Red” (“The Resurrected Man”) is a film that follows the story of “Seok-hwan” (played by Koo Gyo-hwan), a job seeker whose only asset is unfounded confidence, who discovers he possesses the ability to resurrect 72 hours after death and subsequently finds himself being pursued under mysterious circumstances.
Centered on Seok-hwan (played by Koo Gyo-hwan), who transforms into a “resurrection master” who grows stronger with each death, the film features delightful chemistry among the characters, including Black (played by Shin Seung-ho), who pursues him; his only friend Young-ha (played by Kang Ki-young); and his reliable younger sister Ye-rin (played by Kim Si-ah).
For this project, Shin Seung-ho prepared everything from action scenes to speaking a foreign language. “I’m not actually very good at foreign languages, but I took on the role because I saw it as a great opportunity,” he said.
He continued, “I paid close attention to my pronunciation and intonation,” adding, “I prepared with the hope that it would sound natural enough that viewers wouldn’t think, ‘Oh, he prepared specifically for this role.’”
When complimented on looking “sexy,” he blushed and was at a loss for words. Shin Seung-ho drew laughter by saying, “I did hope people would find me sexy, though that wasn’t my goal—it feels like I’ve won an award.”
He continued, “The director helped me develop many other aspects of Black’s character beyond his dark and superhuman abilities. I’m truly grateful to the director.”
In response, Koo Kyo-hwan joked, “This sexy guy wanted me. Whenever he gets the chance, he tells me, ‘Let’s go together.’”
Shin Seung-ho said, “I’ve waited so long for this film’s release—so long that I wonder if I’ve ever waited this long for a movie—and I worked very hard on it. I hope you’ll love it.”
“The Resurrected Man” opens on the 30th.
