[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] Samsung Securities ( SamsungSecurities(016360)) announced on the 17th that it is launching its first “commercial paper”—a short-term financial product backed by its own credit—and will begin full-scale sales starting on the 21st.

Issuer’s notes are short-term financial products with maturities of one year or less that can only be issued by securities firms designated as mega investment banks (IBs) with equity capital of 4 trillion won or more.
To coincide with the launch of this first product, SamsungSecurities is also introducing a special promotional product offering exceptional interest rates. For new customers signing up after September and customers with a total balance of less than 1 million won as of the end of August, the company is offering an annual interest rate of 5.5% (before taxes, as of September 11) on 2- to 90-day terms, capped at 1 million won per person.
Additionally, customers holding a SamsungSecurities comprehensive account will receive an annual interest rate of 4.3% for the 1-year term, with a limit of 1 million won per person up to a maximum of 300 million won. However, both products are scheduled to close early once the issuance limit is exhausted. The issuance limit for the 2–90-day term is 10 billion won, and for the 1-year term, it is 100 billion won.
Even after the special offer ends, customers can still enjoy interest rate benefits across various maturities through standard commercial paper. The fixed-term type offers an annual rate of 4.6%, while the demand type offers 2.55%. For the fixed-term type, rates are as follows: △2–90 days: 2.65% per annum △91–180 days: 3.2% per annum △181–270 days: 3.6% per annum △3.95% per annum for 271–364-day terms, and △3.95% per annum for 1-year terms.
A generous rewards event based on net balance growth has also been organized for customers purchasing promissory notes. With a minimum purchase of 1 million won in promissory notes as the basic requirement, 300 customers will be selected via a random drawing to receive a 50,000-won gas voucher if their balance at the end of October reaches 300 million won or more through promissory note purchases, provided their balance at the end of August was between 1 million won and less than 300 million won.
In addition, among customers whose balance at the end of August was between 300 million won and less than 1 billion won, if their balance at the end of October increases to 1 billion won or more, 30 customers will be selected by lottery to receive one share of SamsungElectronics stock. Furthermore, all customers who meet the conditions will receive a coffee coupon.
However, amounts used to purchase the promissory notes by disposing of or utilizing existing assets in the account—such as held stocks, commodities, or cash—will not be included in the asset increase amount. Even if additional deposits are made, only the amount actually used for the net purchase of the promissory notes will be recognized as part of the asset increase.
A SamsungSecurities official emphasized, “With the launch of these promissory notes, customers now have one more stable asset management tool that is not swayed by market conditions,” adding, “We hope this will provide practical assistance for customers’ stable asset management.” For more details on the promissory note launch event, visit the SamsungSecurities website or the “mPOP” mobile app, or contact a Family Center.
