Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee’s “Intern” Tops the Box Office for Two Consecutive Days, Beating “Odyssey”

[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] The movie "The Intern," starring actors Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee, topped the box office for the second consecutive day, edging out "Odyssey."

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 18th, “The Intern” drew 46,157 viewers on the 17th to take the No. 1 spot at the box office. Its cumulative audience stands at 128,723.
“The Odyssey” drew 39,365 viewers on the same day, ranking second. Its cumulative audience stands at 10,960,848, and it is on the verge of surpassing 11 million viewers.
Third place went to “Resident Evil: Night 0,” which drew 21,922 viewers, while “Obsession,” in fourth place, recorded 21,591 viewers. “Assassins,” set to open on the 23rd, ranked fifth with 13,477 viewers. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” took sixth place.
However, “The Odyssey” continues to hold the top spot in advance ticket sales. As of 8:13 a.m. on the 18th, advance ticket sales for “The Odyssey” totaled 131,081 tickets. In second place was “The Assassin(s)” (99,152 tickets), followed by “The Intern” in third (82,163 tickets) and “Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub” in fourth (58,139 tickets).
With new Korean films continuing to hit theaters ahead of the Chuseok holiday, attention is focused on how the box office competition will unfold between these new releases and the long-running hits “Odyssey” and “The Intern.”
