[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] Actress Im Yoon-ah is set to transform into a forensic scientist. Known for her bright and warm image, she is embarking on a new acting challenge by returning as a cool-headed character who follows clues left behind by the deceased.

Scheduled to premiere next year, tvN’s new drama “Unnatural” (working title) is a medical mystery set at U.D.I., a fictional agency affiliated with the National Forensic Service, depicting the stories of forensic scientists who uncover the truth behind deaths with unclear causes.
Im Yoon-ah will play Song Do-eun, a forensic pathologist at the U.D.I. Center. On the surface, she is calm and composed, but she possesses deeper compassion and tenacity than anyone else. She conducts autopsies without being shaken by the condition of the body, yet she meticulously examines even the smallest clues to ensure she doesn’t miss the final message left by the deceased.
The essence of Song Do-eun lies in her “warmth beneath a cool exterior.” Although she is a medical examiner who sets aside her emotions to solve cases, she differs from typical investigative characters in that she respects the lives and stories of the deceased to the very end. Lim Yoon-ah is also expected to showcase a different vibe from her previous works as she navigates these contrasting facets of her character.
It is particularly noteworthy that Im Yoon-ah, who has enjoyed continued success in both films and TV dramas recently, has chosen a forensic mystery for her next project. Having demonstrated her strengths in romance and drama genres, she is now expanding her range into a genre-based series centered on autopsies and criminal investigations.
The production team stated, “Lim Yoon-ah’s warm and bright energy will be a great fit for Song Do-eun, a character with a strong core and human charm,” adding, “Through her nuanced emotional performance, she will portray a character with a charm unlike anything she’s shown before.”
“Unnatural” is directed by Park Yu-young and written by Min Ji-eun. It is scheduled to premiere on tvN next year.
