On the 17th, Park Jong-wook uploaded a video titled “I’m Sorry for the Bar Brawl Involving an SBS Open-Recruitment Comedian” to his YouTube channel and personally addressed the allegations.
In the video, Park Jong-wook introduced himself, saying, “I’m Park Jong-wook, a comedian from the 16th SBS Open Recruitment class. I used to go by the name Kim Geura on YouTube,” and added, “I’ve received over 20 calls from acquaintances since this morning. People kept asking, ‘Could it be you?’ so I hurriedly recorded this video.”
He first denied the allegations by mentioning the location of the incident and his whereabouts at the time. Park Jong-wook said, “I don’t have the money to drink Yangju in Mapo. I was in Namyangju at the time,” adding, “Rather than drinking Yangju in Mapo and spending money on taxi fares and designated driver fees, I’d rather have two bowls of bone hangover soup and three bottles of soju in my neighborhood,” which drew laughter.
He also responded to the mention of a “dislocated shoulder” with his signature sense of humor. “My shoulder wasn’t dislocated yesterday—it happened six months ago,” he said. “Other than when I was singing at a drinking party and joked, ‘Look at my shoulder—it’s dislocated,’ I haven’t dislocated it recently.”
Regarding the claim that he threw a beer glass, he joked, “I’ve never thrown a beer glass,” adding, “The only thing I’ve thrown recently is a game.”
Park Jong-wook repeatedly emphasized that he had nothing to do with the incident, stating, “The commotion involving a publicly recruited comedian—that’s not me. Please stop contacting me now.”
Previously, JTBC’s “Case Squad” reported on the 2nd that a man who identified himself as a “comic selected through a major broadcaster’s open recruitment” is under police investigation after getting into a dispute with foreign patrons at a bar near Hongdae Station in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where he damaged property—including beer glasses—and failed to pay the bill.
