[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] Singer IU marked her debut anniversary by once again making a meaningful donation. IU, who has consistently given back alongside her fan club “Uaena” on special occasions, continued her tradition of charitable giving by donating a total of 200 million won on this year’s debut anniversary.

Her agency, Idam Entertainment, announced on the 18th, “To mark her debut anniversary, IU donated a total of 200 million won—50 million won each—to the Korean Social Welfare Society, Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, the Heart-to-Heart Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity Korea.”
The donations are scheduled to be used for the stable transition into society for young adults preparing for independence, rehabilitation treatment for children and adolescents, livelihood, educational, and emotional support for young women preparing for independence, and improvements to the living conditions of national meritorious citizens. It is notable that the focus is on providing practical support for young adults’ independence, rehabilitation, and housing—rather than merely one-time donations.
IU has continued to make donations on meaningful occasions—such as her birthday, debut anniversary, and the year-end and New Year holidays—under the name “IUana,” a combination of her own name and that of her fan club, “Uaena.” In this way, she has consistently practiced generosity with the intention of giving back to society the love she has received from her fans.

Her charitable efforts continued this year as well. She donated 100 million won to support children and adolescents in celebration of Children’s Day, and on her birthday, May 16, she donated 300 million won. With the addition of this donation marking her debut anniversary, the total amount of donations disclosed this year alone has reached 600 million won.
She is also maintaining an active presence in her primary career. On the 10th, IU released her new digital single, “From This Star.” The double title tracks, “From This Star” and “Dear My Crazy Soulmate,” have received a positive response, climbing to the top of major music charts shortly after their release.
IU, who has consistently shared with fans on every debut anniversary, has once again added meaning to the occasion in her own unique way—by equating “anniversary” with “donation.” By continuing not only her successful music career but also her consistent acts of kindness, she is expanding her positive influence.
