[E-Daily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] Yeseon Tech ( YeSUN Tech Co., Ltd.(250930)), a company specializing in functional adhesive materials, announced on the 21st that it had been selected as the winner in the Electronic Components and Materials category at the “15th KES Innovation Awards,” organized by the Korea Electronics and Information Technology Industry Promotion Agency (KEA). According to YeSUN Tech Co., Ltd., this award recognizes the technological excellence of its “Flame Barrier Tape,” a fire-resistant tape that significantly enhances fire safety against thermal runaway in electric vehicle and energy storage system (ESS) batteries. This product incorporates the technology for “Fire-resistant Sheets for Electric Vehicle Batteries Equipped with a Dual Fire-resistant Adhesive Layer and Method for Manufacturing the Same,” for which YeSUN Tech Co., Ltd. obtained a patent last June. The key innovation lies in the dual layering of film-based and foam-based fire-resistant adhesive layers within the flame-blocking layer, which blocks direct heat transfer from flames, thereby simultaneously achieving fire spread delay capabilities and unparalleled fire resistance. In particular, it can withstand ultra-high-temperature flame environments reaching 1,300°C and has been verified for its unparalleled safety by earning the highest rating, “V-0,” in the flame retardancy test (UL94) conducted by UL, a U.S. safety certification agency. For this year’s KES Innovation Awards, a total of 42 products from 35 companies were carefully selected across six categories: AX (AI Transformation), Robotics, Mobility, Digital Health & Lifestyle, XR and Spatial Computing, and Electronic Components & Materials. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 13 at COEX in Seoul. A representative from YeSUN Tech Co., Ltd. emphasized, “This award is a significant achievement that publicly recognizes our precision adhesion technology—developed through our experience in the display and automotive electronics sectors—as a competitive advantage in the battery market, which demands a high level of safety.” The representative added, “Based on our proven technological capabilities, we will actively expand our supply volume to rechargeable battery customers to achieve substantial revenue growth and enhance shareholder value.”
