Its cumulative audience count stands at 11,286,770. “The Intern,” which had held the No. 1 spot at the box office for six consecutive days since its release on the 16th, dropped to second place. “The Intern” drew 33,474 viewers, bringing its cumulative total to 471,218. “Obsession” took third place, drawing 20,189 viewers. Next, “Resident Evil: Night 0” ranked fourth with 11,113 viewers, and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” ranked fifth with 4,303 viewers. On the 23rd, three Korean films targeting the Chuseok holiday box office will begin their full-scale push to attract audiences. “The Assassin(s),” starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho; “Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub,” starring Byun Yo-han and Noh Jae-won; and director Lee Chang-dong’s new film “Possible Love” will all open simultaneously on the 23rd. In the race for advance ticket sales on opening day, “Assassin(s)” is leading the pack. As of 8:10 a.m. that day, “Assassin(s)” had sold 233,504 tickets, ranking first in overall advance ticket sales. “The Gambler: Song of Beelzebub” ranked third with 116,777 tickets, while “Possible Love” came in sixth with 42,168 tickets. “The Odyssey” continues its long-running box office success, holding the second spot. In particular, during the Chuseok holiday beginning this weekend, three Korean films are expected to compete by targeting different audience demographics.
