[E-Daily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] VIRNECT Co., Ltd.(438700), a company specializing in industrial digital twins, is leading a government-funded research project based on digital twins to support the maintenance of naval defense equipment.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system on the 23rd, VIRNECT Co., Ltd. signed a project agreement with the Agency for Defense Development on the 22nd for the “Research on an Integrated Maintenance Support System Based on Digital Twins for K-MRO Naval Vessel Equipment.” VIRNECT Co., Ltd. will serve as the lead company, with the Korea National Defense University Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation, MakinaRocks Co., Ltd., and the Changwon National University Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation participating as joint research and development institutions.
The total project budget is 4.4 billion won. Of this amount, 3.3 billion won comes from government funding, and 1.1 billion won from private contributions. VIRNECT Co., Ltd. will receive 2.31 billion won in government funding. This amounts to 7.66% of VIRNECT Co., Ltd.’s equity capital of 30.16279 billion won.
The government funding allocated to VIRNECT Co., Ltd. is broken down as follows by year: 169.4 million won in 2026, 770 million won in 2027, 770 million won in 2028, and 606 million won in 2029. The agreement period is 35 months, from September 1, 2026, to July 31, 2029.
The “K-MRO” in the project title stands for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of naval equipment; this research project aims to develop an integrated system that supports maintenance by applying digital twin technology to naval equipment.
VIRNECT Co., Ltd. stated that it expects to enhance its technological competitiveness and strengthen its financial stability by securing external R&D funding through its participation in this government-funded project.
