Kim Soo-yong appeared as a guest on the recently released Netflix variety show “Ant Kim Won-hoon: The World of Stocks.”
During the episode, Kim Won-hoon asked Kim Soo-yong, “Didn’t you appear on another show and claim you could make 100 million won in just six months, telling viewers to invest 200 million won?” Kim Soo-yong replied, “That’s a lie,” and corrected him, saying, “It wasn’t six months—it was just one month to make 100 million won.”
Surprised by this, Kim Won-hoon asked Kim Soo-yong, “Are you good at trading stocks?” and Kim Soo-yong revealed his stock account. According to the stock trading screen shown, Kim Soo-yong purchased a total of 21.1 billion won worth of stocks from 2020 through July 2026 and sold a total of 23.8 billion won worth. His cumulative realized profit and loss stands at 112 million won. After reviewing Kim Soo-yong’s stock account, Kim Won-hoon exclaimed, “You’re so cool, senior.”
Recalling his first foray into the stock market, Kim Soo-yong said, “I’ve been trading stocks since 1999,” adding, “There are a lot of brokerage firms in Yeouido, aren’t there? I went there with 20 million won.” He recalled, “I asked them to open an account for me,” noting, “There were no apps back then. They gave me a CD to install the HTS software,” and explained, “So I installed the program on my computer and started trading stocks.”
Kim Soo-yong explained that he invests in stocks using day trading (an investment strategy involving buying and selling within a short period) and confided, “I went in for day trading, but I can’t find a chance to sell.”
He explained that if a stock he buys continues to decline, he liquidates his position within a week, adding, “If it’s not working out, you have to sell right away.”
Kim Won-hoon asked Kim Soo-yong, who began investing in stocks in 1999, “How do you view the current stock market?” Kim Soo-yong expressed concern, saying, “I wonder if this is even okay,” and added, “I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s an absurd market.”
When Kim Su-yong heard that Kim Won-hoon, who had been investing in stocks for only two weeks, had 180 million won in seed money, he advised, “You’re holding too many stocks.”
