In the episode of KBS2’s “Men Who Do Housework Season 2” (Salimnam) airing on the 26th, viewers will see the couple Park Hyun-ho and Eun Ga-eun, along with their daughter Seo-won, set off for Gimhae—Eun Ga-eun’s hometown and her mother’s home. Park Hyun-ho, in particular, sets out with a sense of anticipation as he visits his in-laws’ home for the first time.
That day, the family of three arrives at Gupo Station by train. Eun Ga-eun’s mother has come to the station early to welcome her granddaughter. Making her first appearance on “Men Who Do Housework,” Eun Ga-eun’s mother says, “It’s not hard at all,” and can’t take her eyes off her granddaughter.
Eun Ga-eun and her mother, who had been bickering since they arrived at the train station, continue their argument at home. Despite her daughter’s plea not to cook, Eun Ga-eun’s mother—who has prepared a staggering amount of holiday food—ignores her and brings out glutinous rice flour, saying, “Let’s make songpyeon together.”
Eun Ga-eun protests, “Seo-won puts everything in his mouth these days, so we can’t do this,” but after some twists and turns, the three of them begin making songpyeon. However, shortly afterward, when Seo-won starts coughing, Eun Ga-eun becomes on edge, asking, “Did some of the flour get into his mouth?”
Watching this, MC Lee Yo-won empathizes, saying, “You’re naturally more sensitive and cautious with your first child.”
Amid this, Eun Ga-eun’s mother pinches off a piece of the songpyeon dough and lets her granddaughter play with it. Eventually, Park Hyun-ho, wanting to avoid the tension between mother and daughter, takes Seo-won outside to put her down for a nap. Hwan-hee, appearing as a studio guest, looks nervous and remarks, “So this is what marriage is like.” Lee Yo-won adds, “That’s right. Once you’re married, you have to constantly read the room.”
Eun Ga-eun and her mother vent their pent-up resentment toward each other and eventually break down in tears. Eun Ga-eun confides, “Ever since I was little, Mom would often say, ‘You have to figure out your own life,’” and “I felt like Mom wasn’t interested in me.”
However, Eun Ga-eun’s mother waves her hands dismissively, asking, “When did I ever say that?” She then adds, “I thought my daughter would become more affectionate after she got married…” before finally breaking down in tears.
