[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] A man in his 30s who broke into actress Nana’s home and committed a robbery has been indicted on charges of false accusation.

According to legal sources on the 26th, the 1st Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office (Acting Chief Prosecutor Lee Ju-hee) indicted a man in his 30s, identified only as Mr. A, on charges of false accusation on the 16th without detention.
Mr. A is accused of breaking into Nana’s home in Acheon-dong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, at around 5:38 a.m. on November 15 of last year, threatening Nana and her daughter with a weapon, and attempting to steal their valuables. During the incident, Nana and her daughter sustained injuries requiring approximately 30 days of medical treatment.
Mr. A was indicted and detained on charges of robbery resulting in injury and is currently undergoing an appeal trial at the Seoul High Court. Mr. A filed a counter-complaint against Nana, accusing her of attempted murder and aggravated assault, claiming he was also injured by her attack.
The police determined that Nana’s actions constituted self-defense and decided not to refer the case for prosecution last January; Nana, in turn, filed a counter-complaint against Mr. A for false accusation. The prosecution conducted a supplementary investigation by reviewing the victim’s testimony and the results of forensic analysis of Mr. A’s cell phone, and reportedly decided to refer the case to trial after determining that the charges of false accusation against Mr. A were substantiated.
Previously, on June 9, the 1st Criminal Division of the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court, which heard the first-instance trial, sentenced Ms. Kim to seven years in prison. Both Ms. Kim and the prosecution appealed the original verdict. The second-instance sentencing is scheduled for the 22nd of next month.
