[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] The box office momentum of “The Odyssey,” now in its eighth week of release, shows no signs of slowing down. Even amid a flood of new releases during the Chuseok holiday, the film secured the most seats and maintained a seat occupancy rate of around 60%, proving its strong audience demand. Of the 239,133 seats allocated that day, approximately 142,224 were filled by actual moviegoers. On the same day, “The Assassin(s)” also outperformed other new Chuseok releases in seat occupancy rate: △“The Assassin(s)” at 47.1%, △“Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub” at 52.9%, and △“The Intern” at 42.8%. This means that a film in its eighth week of release maintained the highest seat occupancy rate while competing against new releases. The trend continued throughout the holiday period. On the 24th, *The Odyssey* was allocated 167,060 seats and recorded a seat occupancy rate of 54.2%. At the time, this was more than 20 percentage points higher than △*The Assassin(s)* at 31.8%, △*Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub* at 32.4%, and △*The Intern* at 28.7%. On the 25th, even though the number of seats increased to 213,675, the seat occupancy rate rose to 61.3%. It outperformed △“The Assassin(s)” at 47.5%, △“Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub” at 43.7%, and △“The Intern” at 40.8%. What is particularly noteworthy is that both the number of seats and the ticket sales rate remained at high levels simultaneously. The number of seats for *The Odyssey* increased from 167,060 on the 24th to 213,675 on the 25th and 239,133 on the 26th, while the seat occupancy rate remained strong, rising from 54.2% to 61.3% and then falling to 59.5%. This indicates that the increase in audience numbers is not merely due to securing more screens, but rather that actual moviegoers are filling the additional seats. Demand for special theaters is even stronger. CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall’s IMAX theater—known as “Yong-A-Max”—was virtually sold out throughout the Chuseok holiday period. Although screenings were held with a capacity of 624 seats per showing, it was difficult to find an empty seat, excluding those reserved for people with disabilities. This demonstrates that, even in its eighth week of release, demand for repeat viewings—particularly on large screens—continues. “The Odyssey” drew 142,224 viewers on the 26th alone, bringing its cumulative total to 11,691,832. Despite the onslaught of new releases, it has maintained its third-place position at the box office and continues its long-running success.
