[Edaily Kang Gyeong-rok Travel Reporter] Daebu Island in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, has made an appearance right in the heart of New York’s Times Square. This comes as a campaign video introducing Daebu Island and The Heavenly Resort—where singer Lee Seung-chul has resided for over 10 years—began airing on a giant digital billboard in Times Square. Lee Seung-chul participated in the project from the planning stage without receiving any modeling or appearance fees.

According to The Heaven Resort on the 27th, the campaign video featuring Lee Seung-cheol is currently being shown twice an hour on the large digital billboard in the center of Times Square in New York City. The video showcases not only the resort’s facilities but also the natural environment of Daebu Island and Lee Seung-cheol’s daily life there.
Lee Seung-cheol’s connection with Daebu Island dates back to 2013. According to the resort, Lee has been using The Heaven Resort as a second home, staying there for about one or two days a week. He has enjoyed golf and relaxation with acquaintances, including professional golfer Yang Yong-eun, who played on the PGA Tour, and has also participated in charity events held at the resort to support African children.
This campaign also stemmed from that connection. While the resort was planning to produce a promotional video, Lee Seung-cheol proposed the concept of introducing the space where he actually lives and spends time, and agreed to participate as a model. The resort explained that he did not receive any compensation, such as a modeling fee or appearance fee.
The video also highlights his actual stay at the resort. Lee Seung-cheol introduces Daebu Island and the resort, saying, “You’ll understand once you experience it for yourself.” The footage includes panoramic views of the resort and scenes of him playing the piano at The Heaven’s Ark Church, designed by the late architect Jun Itami (Korean name: Yoo Dong-ryong), a Korean resident of Japan.
The video showcases Daebu Island’s natural environment and architecture, along with Lee Seung-cheol’s daily life there. The content is structured to bundle individual lodging facilities and their surrounding areas into a single tourism package. Unlike typical resort advertisements featuring celebrities, this campaign utilized the model’s actual long-term stay in the area as its core content.
The ad was also filmed not in Korea but in New York’s Times Square. This approach simultaneously showcases a domestic resort and the beauty of Daebu Island right in the heart of a major international tourist destination. Lee Seung-cheol said, “I participated because I wanted to share the harmony of Daebu Island, its natural environment, and relaxation with as many people as possible,” adding, “I hope more people, both in Korea and abroad, will experience the charm of Daebu Island.”
