[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] The production company behind the film "The Assassin(s)" has denied rumors of Chinese capital investment, calling them baseless.

Production company Hive Media Corp. issued an official statement on the 29th regarding claims of “Chinese capital infusion,” stating, “There is absolutely no truth to the claim that Chinese capital was involved in the production or investment process.”
They further emphasized, “This film was independently planned and produced with domestic capital under the leadership of domestic production staff and creators.”
Previously, Rep. Joo Jin-woo of the People Power Party claimed that a consortium—which included a Chinese financial firm—had sought to invest approximately 40 billion won in the film “The Assassin(s).” Subsequently, rumors of Chinese capital involvement spread through online communities and some media outlets.
The production company stated, “We are well aware that various opinions and concerns have been raised recently regarding the film. We respect criticism and diverse viewpoints,” adding, “However, matters concerning investment and production capital are facts that can be objectively verified.”
They added, “We hope that information contrary to the facts will not be further amplified or reproduced.”
