[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] #SeouLinBioscience CO., LTD. announced on the 29th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Forest Research Institute to jointly develop functional materials derived from forest resources.

SeouLinBioscience CO., LTD. is conducting research and development on functional materials derived from forest resources, centered around the Seorin Life Science Research Institute. Through this agreement, the company plans to combine SeouLinBioscience CO., LTD.’s bioanalysis and R&D capabilities with the Jeonnam Forest Research Institute’s propagation and cultivation technologies and raw material production infrastructure.

The two institutions will conduct phased joint research, ranging from the discovery of candidate functional materials and the verification of their efficacy and safety to the standardization of raw materials and the assessment of their applicability in health functional foods.

Specific areas of cooperation include: △ identification of functional ingredients and verification of their efficacy and safety; △ joint research for human clinical trials and the development of health functional foods; △ development of standardized cultivation and mass production technologies for forest resources; △ dissemination of these technologies to local forestry households and the establishment of cultivation complexes; and △ joint identification of national research projects in the field of forest green biotechnology.

In particular, to establish the raw material production infrastructure necessary for the commercialization of functional ingredients, the two organizations will jointly develop standardized cultivation and mass production technologies for forest resources. They will also explore ways to disseminate these technologies to local forestry households and establish cultivation clusters in the future.

An official from SeouLinBioscience CO., LTD. stated, “For the commercialization of functional materials, securing a stable supply of raw materials and establishing a production infrastructure are crucial, along with verifying efficacy,” adding, “By combining the expertise of both institutions, we will identify competitive functional materials derived from forest resources and expand the foundation for commercialization.”

The official added, “Going forward, through national research projects and joint R&D, we will establish a green biotechnology business model utilizing forest resources that enables local forestry households and companies to grow together.”
