[Edaily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] On the afternoon of the 30th, the KOSPI turned lower amid simultaneous selling by foreign and institutional investors. In contrast, the KOSDAQ continued its contrasting trend, extending its gains.

According to MP Doctor, as of 1:29 p.m. today, the KOSPI is trading at 6,856.12, down 14.69 points (0.21%) from the previous day.

While retail investors made net purchases of 590.9 billion won in an effort to prop up the index, foreign investors and institutions made net sales of 898.3 billion won and 913.8 billion won, respectively, widening the decline. The KOSPI, which had opened higher in the morning, was pushed down to the low 6,800s in the afternoon as selling pressure from foreign and institutional investors intensified.

By stock, 369 are up, 57 are unchanged, and 487 are down, with declining stocks outnumbering rising ones.

Among semiconductor stocks, performance varied by individual stock. SamsungElectronics(005930)is trading at 269,000 won, down 3,500 won (1.28%), while the second-largest player, SK hynix(000660), is trading at 1,788,000 won, up 23,000 won (1.30%).

Kang Shin-hyuk, a senior analyst at Shinhan Investment & Securities, predicted, “Micron’s earnings announcement, scheduled for early tomorrow morning, will be a key factor in gauging the future outlook for the memory semiconductor market and the direction of domestic semiconductor stocks.”

Among the gainers were SKSQUARE(402340)(0.89%), SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS(207940)(0.72%), and LG Energy Solution(373220)(0.71%).

On the other hand, SamsungElectronics(1P)(005935)(3.68%) posted the largest decline among the top-market-cap stocks, while Samsung Life Insurance(032830)(2.93%), KB Financial Group(105560)(2.59%), HyundaiMotor(005380)(1.00%), and SamsungElectroMechanics(009150)(0.72%) also fell, showing weakness.

The KOSDAQ is moving in a different direction from the KOSPI. The KOSDAQ is currently at 857.35, up 7.55 points (0.89%) from the previous day. While retail investors and foreign investors recorded net sales of 2.9 billion won and 11.5 billion won, respectively, institutions drove the index higher with net purchases of 23.6 billion won. With 830 stocks rising—outnumbering the 817 that fell—a solid upward trend continues, led by stocks in the semiconductor, display, and materials sectors as well as biotech-related stocks.

Among the top-market-cap stocks on the KOSDAQ market at this time, EO Technics Co., Ltd.(039030)(4.54%), JUSUNG ENGINEERING Co.,Ltd.(036930)(4.28%), HLB INC.(028300)(4.23%), ECOPRO BM CO., LTD.(247540)(1.98%), ECOPRO CO., LTD(086520)(1.90%), Alteogen Inc.(196170)(1.78%), Rainbow Robotics(277810)(1.68%), WONIK IPS Co.,Ltd.(240810)(0.61%), and LEENO Industrial Inc(058470)(0.41%) all rose across the board.

In contrast, SIMMTECH Co., Ltd.(222800)(1.38%) fell and underperformed.

By sector, trading companies, chemicals, energy, life sciences, and shipbuilding are showing strength, while domestic consumption and financial stocks—such as consumer staples, banks, insurance, and cosmetics—are showing weakness.
