[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] The Netflix series “Sweet Part-Time Job” is set to premiere.
Netflix announced on the 1st that “Sweet Part-Time Job” will premiere on the 30th. Set in a bizarre employment agency that specializes in “sweet part-time jobs” starting at 50 times the minimum wage, “Sweet Part-Time Job” is a survival horror series that follows a young man named “Hyeok-jun” as he is thrust into nightmarish work environments.
Director Kim Da-min, who wrote the screenplay for the Netflix series “The Killer: A Dilemma” and gained attention for the film “Makgeolli Will Tell You,” is directing the series. Han Jun-hee, who has built a solid body of work through series such as “D.P.” and “Weak Hero,” serves as the executive producer. The cast includes Lee Jae-wook, Go Min-si, Kim Min-ha, and Lee Hee-joon.
The teaser poster, released alongside the premiere date, shows Hyuk-jun (Lee Jae-wook) sitting in the middle of a chaotic scene. Amid items strewn everywhere and scattered furniture, Hyuk-jun appears bloodied and visibly exhausted, hinting at the extraordinary situation he has encountered. The accompanying tagline, “Guaranteed at least 50 times the minimum wage—will you accept this dream part-time job?” piques curiosity about the bizarre events Hyuk-jun will face in exchange for his hourly wage after being lured by an irresistible offer into this “dream part-time job.”
The teaser trailer, released alongside the stills, begins with Hyuk-jun visiting a staffing agency as a last-ditch effort to escape the quagmire of debt. At the shabby and eerie employment agency, Hyuk-jun is offered a part-time job paying 50 times the minimum wage. The owner (Lee Hee-joon) persuades a hesitant Hyuk-jun—who is torn between being tempted and suspicious—by asking, “Where else could you find a better part-time job than this?” However, the job that begins this way turns out to be a series of challenging ordeals, despite the sweet pay.
From being attacked by a sudden swarm of moths at a convenience store late at night to encountering a suspicious clown, a series of bizarre and eerie incidents await Hyuk-jun. Yet, the daily pay—which increases with each successful mission—draws Hyuk-jun back into dangerous jobs, and his desperate struggle to survive these life-threatening, nightmarish work environments keeps viewers captivated. It leaves viewers wondering what will happen to Hyuk-jun, who has accepted this “high-pay, high-risk, ultra-lucrative dream job”—one where the hourly wage is sweet but the difficulty is anything but.
Meanwhile, Netflix released “Scandal,” starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana, on the 18th of last month. “Scandal” is a series that tells the story of “Lady Jo”—a woman with exceptional talent who feels trapped by her role as a woman in the Joseon Dynasty—and “Jo Won,” the Joseon Dynasty’s greatest ladies’ man, as they engage in a daring and dangerous love wager, as well as the story of “Hee-yeon,” a woman entangled in that wager. Just two weeks after its release, it climbed to No. 3 on Netflix’s global non-English show chart. The next series to be released is “Recharge Me.” “Recharge Me” will premiere on the 9th.
