Their agency, Incode Entertainment, released a statement on its official website on the 30th of last month, saying, “We sincerely apologize to the residents who may have experienced inconvenience and distress due to noise from the filming at a time when they should have been enjoying a peaceful night.”
Incode Entertainment explained, “We considered various measures and made every effort to minimize inconvenience to residents during the filming process; however, as the shoot continued late into the night, we failed to pay closer attention to the potential disruption to the surrounding environment and residents’ daily lives,” and bowed their heads once again, adding, “We deeply apologize once more to the residents who experienced this inconvenience.”
Previously, a post by a netizen identified as “A” went viral online, claiming to have suffered from noise pollution caused by a music video shoot for an idol group at Jemulpo Market in Sungeui-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon.
User A wrote, “I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 10 years and witnessed countless film shoots, but this is the first time I’ve seen a shoot like this—using speakers even after 3 a.m.” They continued, “Residents are suffering from the noise,” adding, “I’ve never once filed a complaint about a shoot before, but I’m posting this today because I’m so angry. Filming isn’t a privilege. Please respect the boundaries.”
Mr. A also posted a video showing the filming scene. The video captured the voices of crew members giving filming instructions over a microphone.
It was reported that Kibit Up conducted filming from the 29th until early this morning. As the controversy grew, Incode Entertainment issued a statement, saying, “We take this matter very seriously,” and added, “We will visit the residents who have been inconvenienced and take follow-up measures in a responsible and sincere manner.”
They continued, “Taking this incident as a lesson, we will pay even closer attention to the surrounding environment and the daily lives of residents during future filming and production processes,” and promised, “We will conduct more thorough pre-production checks with the production company regarding all aspects of filming, and carefully manage filming schedules and on-site noise levels to ensure that similar situations do not recur.”
Kibit Up is a rookie group launched last April by Incode Entertainment, a company founded by singer Kim Jae-joong. The group is scheduled to make a comeback with a new album next month.
