At the event, CEO Jeong delivered a presentation titled “From Local to Global: Scale-Up Strategies for Tech Entrepreneurs in the Era of Physical AI.” He shared his experience commercializing LiDAR technology developed at a research lab in Gwangju and expanding the business from autonomous driving into robotics and physical AI.
In particular, he explained the process of transforming laboratory technology into products purchased by actual customers, as well as the company’s market expansion strategy. He also emphasized the importance of building partnerships, securing proof-of-concept cases, and strengthening mass production capabilities to enter the global market.
CEO Jeong, a graduate of the GIST School of Mechanical Engineering, co-founded SOS LAB Co., Ltd. in Gwangju with fellow alumni in 2016. Since then, he has expanded LiDAR technology into various industrial sectors and led the company’s KOSDAQ listing in 2024. He currently serves as the president of the AI Industry-Academia-Research Association and is actively involved in fostering the local startup ecosystem and mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs.
SOS LAB Co., Ltd. plans to use this event as an opportunity to expand its engagement with AI and mobility companies. Major companies such as Kakao Mobility, Google, Amazon, Rebellion, and OpenAI participated in the event. The company intends to explore potential technology and business collaborations with the companies and entrepreneurs in attendance.
CEO Jeong stated, “SOS LAB Co., Ltd. is a company that has grown through regional industry-academia collaboration and support, based on innovative ideas and technological capabilities,” adding, “I hope this event will serve as an opportunity to share our growth experience and know-how and to present a vision to future leaders.”
He continued, “We will continue to strive to revitalize the domestic startup ecosystem and foster the emergence of many innovative companies through such exchanges,” adding, “As a seasoned entrepreneur, I will blaze new trails and support the challenges of the next generation of entrepreneurs.”
