[Edaily Reporter Kim Kyung-eun ] The KOSPI regained the 7,000 mark on the 2nd, showing a late-session rally just before the market closed. While caution ahead of the release of U.S. September employment data weighed on investor sentiment, large-scale net buying by “other corporations”—presumed to be share buybacks by SamsungElectronics and SK hynix—supported the index’s bottom.

It then fluctuated around the 7,000 mark before gaining momentum toward the end of the session and breaking above the 7,000 level. This marks the first time the KOSPI has recovered the 7,000 mark in five trading days, since the 28th of last month.

He continued, “Thereafter, until SamsungElectronics announces its preliminary earnings on the 8th, interest rate volatility is highly likely to dictate the direction of the stock market,” adding, “In the absence of major events, we expect limited fluctuations driven by external factors.”
