A representative from MBC’s “I Live Alone” told E-Daily on the 7th, “The house featured on the show is indeed where Kim Min actually lives,” adding, “The production team did not make any special preparations or stage any situations for filming.”
The representative continued, “The generator shown on the broadcast is one he normally uses based on the home’s actual electricity usage conditions; it is not a device that was specially prepared or set up for filming.”
Previously, actor Kim Min appeared on MBC’s “I Live Alone” and revealed his daily life living in a 90-year-old house in Dongducheon. He garnered attention by showcasing a rustic lifestyle—such as running a generator to pump groundwater for showers, personally repairing cracked floors with cement, and grilling meat over a wood fire.
However, after the episode aired, allegations of fabrication surfaced. In July, a netizen posted a Street View image of Kim Min’s house and pointed out that it differed from what was shown on the broadcast. The netizen also raised suspicions, noting that utility poles were visible around the house and arguing there was no reason to use a generator for power.
These allegations of fabrication began with an episode featuring Jeon Hyun-moo’s impromptu trip to Almaty, Kazakhstan. Suspicions arose that Jeon Hyun-moo’s impromptu trip was staged, and although the production team explained, “We booked the staff’s plane tickets in advance so we could respond immediately if the trip to Kazakhstan was confirmed,” allegations of fabrication regarding the program continue to persist.
However, there are also ongoing criticisms that tracking down his residence under the pretext of verifying the broadcast constitutes an excessive invasion of privacy.
