The FIRST Global Challenge is an international youth robotics competition organized by the U.S.-based nonprofit foundation FIRST Global since 2017. According to LG Corp., youth teams from approximately 190 countries are participating in this year’s event.
This year’s participants are designing and building robots themselves on the theme of wildfire prevention and response, and competing to see who can best complete the assigned missions.
LG CNS is operating an interactive booth at the event venue using its proprietary IT education social contribution program, “AI Genius.” The booth is designed to allow participating youth to experience the digital technologies LG CNS is developing across various industries by coding and operating autonomous robot kits themselves. In the mission set in Korea, participants operate logistics equipment using robots, while in the U.S. mission, they experience a process of collecting quality products and delivering them to a picking robot.
In the Singapore mission, participants carried out a smart finance task involving money transfers after passing security authentication, while in the Greece mission, they performed a smart transportation task where they triggered a bus to depart by tapping a card.
Through this event, LG Corp. plans to support young people from around the world in experiencing both robot coding and digital technologies used in industrial settings.
