[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] SOOP(067160)is launching the women’s professional volleyball team “SOOP Supers” and will directly manage the club. The company’s strategy is to expand its scope from a platform that broadcasts sports events to a business operator that directly manages players and teams, thereby introducing new sports content that combines the streaming ecosystem with the volleyball fanbase.

SOOP has previously broadcast a wide range of sports, including professional sports and youth tournaments. With the launch of the Supers, the company plans to go beyond game broadcasts to share aspects of the athletes’ lives—such as their training, daily routines, and match preparations—that fans have rarely had the chance to see, through live streams and interviews.

The team is also expanding the participation of active players in broadcasts. During the “2026 South Korea National Volleyball Team Evaluation Matches” last July, SOOP Supers players Go Ye-rim and Jeon Sae-yeon personally participated as commentators, delivering an interactive broadcast that incorporated the perspective of active players.

Connecting SOOP’s strength—its streamer ecosystem—with the volleyball fanbase is also central to the Supers’ operations. The club plans to collaborate with streamers—who have previously provided biased commentary and cheering broadcasts during national team matches—to broaden the connection between existing volleyball fans and SOOP users.

Online fan engagement extends to the arena. On the 3rd, SOOP Supers held a launch ceremony at SOOP Stadium in Gwangju, South Jeolla Province—their home base—and unveiled their new uniforms and mascot. During the regular season, they plan to link home games with live broadcasts and introduce content that bridges the online and offline worlds, such as streamers visiting the arena.

Led by Head Coach Kim Se-jin, the SOOP Supers will play their first official match on the 11th at the Yeosu KOVO Cup. On November 5, they will meet fans for their first-ever V-League home game since the team’s founding.

A SOOP official stated, “Through our club operations, we will develop content that streamers, users, and sports fans can all enjoy together, and expand our platform for communication that bridges the online and offline worlds.”
