(Photo = News1) On the 8th, at the Actors’ House event for the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) held at the Culture Hall on the 9th floor of the Shinsegae Department Store Centum City branch in Haeundae-gu, Busan, Kim Min-ha reminisced about her past visits to BIFF as a movie fan and audience member.
He described this moment as “like a dream.” From serving as the sole host of this year’s BIFF opening ceremony to starring in the opening film *Day and Night Are for Each Other* and the premiere of the Netflix series *Sweet Part-Time Job*, it’s safe to say Kim Min-ha has been the face of this year’s BIFF.
She revealed that every time she attended BIFF, she used to dream, “I want to be up there too,” and smiled as she said, “I remember watching *John Wick* at BIFF when I was twenty. I remember it so vividly.”
She then added, “I came here with my boyfriend back then when I was twenty. It’s such a rosy memory,” drawing attention.
Kim Min-ha, who rose to fame through *Pachinko*, reflected on the past four years, saying, “It was a time that felt both short and long.” She recalled, “I heard there was a lot of talk in the industry at the time about how I’d become a complete unknown as the lead in *Pachinko*.” She continued, “I intentionally took a year off. Instead of looking for an agency or a project, I spent about a year taking time to step back and look at myself objectively.”
Kim Min-ha drew attention by saying, “I think that time was what made the path I’ve walked over the past four years possible. If I had been impatient or rushed into things driven by the industry’s expectations, my path might have turned out differently.”
She continued, “I think I took that time to calm my excitement and filter out what wasn’t essential,” adding, “I took the time to clarify my criteria for choosing scripts, as well as the goals and values I pursue.”
The 31st Busan International Film Festival will be held throughout Busan until the 15th at venues including the Busan Cinema Center, CGV Centum City, Lotte Cinema Centum City, the Korean Film Council’s Standard Screening Room, the Sohyang Theater Woori Bank Hall, and the Busan Viewers’ Media Center Public Hall.
