Jung Ju-yeon made a strong impression in her role as Major in “Joseon Seolhwa Team,” which premiered on the 7th.
“Joseon Seolhwa Team” is a historical romance short-form drama depicting power struggles, betrayal, and fatal temptations surrounding a secret gathering of the upper class during the Joseon Dynasty. Actors Lee Tae-sung, Ryu Hyo-young, Ko Yoon, and Jung Ju-yeon lead the cast.
The character So-ryeong, played by Jeong Ju-yeon, is an unconventional new woman who has returned after studying in the Qing Dynasty; she is a confident and independent figure unbound by the customs of her time. In the series, she appears as Lee Won’s (played by Ko Yoon) first love and the founder of “Seolhwa Team,” a secret gathering of the upper class, thereby shaping the drama’s central narrative and relationships.
Jung Joo-yeon stated, “I was drawn to the role of ‘Major’ because she isn’t merely someone’s first love, but a character who independently chooses and acts on what she wants,” adding, “Since this is a short-form drama, I focused on conveying the character’s emotions and presence in a condensed manner during filming.”
She continued, “It was meaningful to be able to show a new side of myself through this project, and I hope to continue greeting audiences through a variety of works without limiting myself to any specific genre or character type.”
Jung Ju-yeon, who made her debut in 2009 appearing in Epik High’s “Follow Me” music video, has showcased her diverse charms in dramas such as “Lovers in a Storm,” “Princess Aurora,” and “Hwainga Scandal.” Attention is now focused on what kind of activities Jung Ju-yeon, who has taken on the challenge of the new short-form genre, will pursue in the future.
