On the 9th, Song Min-ho posted a handwritten apology on his social media account, stating, “I bow my head in apology for causing concern to so many people because of my actions.”
This comes eight days after the court’s ruling. Song Min-ho also apologized for the delay in issuing his statement. “I should have spoken out sooner, but it’s become too late,” he said, adding, “I’m sorry for making you wait so long.”
In particular, he expressed his regret to those who are faithfully fulfilling their military service obligations and to the fans who have supported him. Song Min-ho said, “Above all, I am deeply sorry for disappointing the young men who are fulfilling their military service obligations, as well as my fans, who have cherished me more than anyone else.”
He described his actions as “irresponsible choices.” He said, “Every day, my regrets grew deeper. I felt ashamed and resented my past irresponsible choices,” adding, “I will not shy away from my foolish mistakes but will reflect on them.”
He continued, “I will faithfully carry out the remaining procedures and obligations,” adding, “I will not forget this incident; I will keep it in my heart and live with a more responsible attitude.”
Song Min-ho was indicted on charges of habitually taking unauthorized absences while serving as a social service worker. He was accused of being absent without permission for 102 out of approximately 430 working days while working at a facility in Mapo-gu, Seoul, from March 2023 to December 2024.
Song Min-ho admitted to all charges brought by the prosecution during his first hearing last April.
On the 1st, Judge Seong Jun-kyu of the 10th Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Song Min-ho, who was indicted on charges of violating the Military Service Act, to one year in prison, suspended for two years.
Song Min-ho debuted in 2024 as a member of the group WINNER. He released hit songs such as “Empty,” “REALLY REALLY,” and “EVERYDAY,” and has also pursued a solo career. He has been active in variety shows as well, appearing on programs such as tvN’s “New Journey to the West” series.
