[Edaily Reporter KIM HYUNG-HWAN ] An accident occurred at a supermarket in Buk-gu, Daegu, where part of the ceiling collapsed, injuring 36 people. While most of the injuries are minor, it is understood that nine people were transported to the hospital.

According to the Daegu Fire and Safety Headquarters and other sources on the 10th, the ceiling collapsed at a grocery store in Gwaneum-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, at around 10:16 a.m. that day, prompting shoppers to evacuate. There were a total of 66 people inside the store, and 36 sustained minor injuries during the evacuation.

Nine of the injured were transported to the hospital.

According to the fire department, citizens sustained injuries—such as scrapes from building debris—while evacuating. Fire authorities conducted a search operation following the accident, and no additional casualties or other notable incidents were reported.

Police have deployed officers to control traffic around the accident site and its vicinity. Authorities plan to investigate the cause of the accident after completing the search operation.

President Lee Jae-myung instructed relevant agencies to spare no effort in managing the aftermath of the accident. Kang Yu-jeong, Senior Spokesperson for the Blue House, stated in a press release that day that President Lee had received a report on the accident from the Acting Commissioner General of the National Police Agency and issued these instructions.
