Hyung-jun, who said he was inspired by the way travelers often collect meaningful quotes, explained, “I wanted to try collecting quotes to celebrate Hangul Day,” and took to the streets himself. At his first stop, a bookstore, he received a quote as a gift from the owner and was even introduced to recommended books, marking the start of his collection. He then roamed bookstores and streets around Cheonggyecheon, striking up conversations with both locals and foreign tourists. While listening to and recording the phrases each person cherished, he also shared his own prepared phrases to foster connection. At one bookstore, he was even presented with a name tag that read “Reader.” Toward the end of the video, he drew attention by revealing a poem he had written himself. Hyung-jun recited his original poem, “Round,” saying, “I wrote this poem yesterday for today.” It was a time not merely to commemorate Hangul Day, but to share the comfort and empathy found in the language of everyday life. Hyung-jun’s solo YouTube series, “Round Song Hyung-jun,” is released every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CRAVITY, the group Hyung-jun is a member of, is currently promoting with “LOUDER,” the title track from their 9th mini-album, “sonorous.”
