[Edaily Reporter KIM JI-WAN ] GENINUS Inc.(389030)is embarking on experimental research to verify the feasibility of developing actual treatments based on new anti-cancer drug targets identified using artificial intelligence (AI). The company plans to biologically validate the drug targets predicted by AI to enhance the reliability of its proprietary platform and expand opportunities for joint development and technology transfer with global pharmaceutical companies.

GENINUS Inc. announced on the 12th that it has selected some of the new targets identified through its proprietary AI drug discovery platform, “IntelliRVL,” and has begun antibody-based biological validation.

IntelliRVL is a platform that combines single-cell and spatial omics data with patients’ clinical information and treatment response data to identify targets applicable to new drug development. GENINUS Inc. has been using this platform to discover new cancer-related targets and combinations of multiple targets, and to analyze their suitability for therapeutic development.

The core of this research lies in validating the results of AI analysis through actual biological experiments. This is because even if promising new drug targets are identified through computer simulations and data analysis, separate validation is required to determine whether those targets can induce therapeutic effects in actual cells.

To this end, GENINUS Inc. plans to utilize antibody discovery technology to secure antibodies that bind to each target. The company will then analyze the binding characteristics between the antibodies and the target proteins and verify the functional changes observed at the cellular level, as well as the mechanism of action (MoA).

The company intends to evaluate the accuracy and applicability of its discovery technology by comparing the experimental data obtained during this process with the target selection results from its AI platform. Furthermore, its strategy is to strengthen the platform’s competitiveness by establishing a research framework that spans from new drug target screening to priority selection and experimental validation.

In particular, the company will focus on linking targets identified based on patient-derived multi-omics data to the development of new antibody drugs. By substantiating the development potential of candidate targets through biological validation, the company expects to leverage these findings in future joint research and technology transfer negotiations with domestic and international pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

GENINUS Inc. official stated, “This research is a process of verifying the efficacy of new drug targets identified by Intellibil through actual experiments,” adding, “We will enhance the platform’s technical reliability by integrating a biological validation system with our AI-based target discovery capabilities.”

The representative added, “We plan to strengthen our research infrastructure—enabling us to independently conduct everything from target discovery to the confirmation of therapeutic mechanisms of action—and actively seek partnerships and technology transfer opportunities with global pharmaceutical companies.”
